Àsìkò (The Moment)
“The chief enemy of creativity is good sense” -Pablo Picasso
Àsìkò is a creative art style inspired by the Chinese concept of yin and yang. In the African tradition especially the Yoruba culture, it is believed that everything is created in twos. A side and another. In the biblical story, Noah went into the ark with all animals in twos. Each side has its own unique roles like day and night, good and bad, male and female, up and down, life and death, and finally black and white.
This style uses this idea, semi-abstract figures, and dynamic African lines and icons to express and tell stories. In this style, there is so much uniqueness embedded in each artwork and used for different themes including European, American, and African-related themes.
